My name is Penny Lim. I am 23 years old. I am categorised as a slow learner due to learning difficulties and poor oral skills. I am also an epileptic patient.

From a very young age, I have always loved to draw. Drawing is my passion and I would sketch or paint anything I like. Through this love for art, I met an art teacher. Her name is Joy Chong and she runs this center called Dragonfly Art Cottage in Bangsar. I started my art lessons with Teacher Joy in 2005 (I was 10 years old). I love the atmosphere here with people at different levels. Everyone has such different styles here, and it fosters a very creative environment.

Teacher Joy has taught me many art skills and introduced me to many methods of producing art. With her guidance, I have made many unique and lovely paintings on canvas. And since 2015, those paintings have been reproduced in a calendar each year. I am proud of my achievements. I have also gained the confidence to exhibit some of my work for the first time here in Malaysia as well as in the United States of America.

Joy, as her name suggests, is a joy to work with. She is dedicated, creative & passionate art teacher. She is my mentor in my journey in art. I will always treasure her teachings. Without her I will never be able to achieve what I have done today.
